Each piano needs to be evaluated individually. However, if I was going to grade the Story & Clark brand on a scale of 0 to 10 (Zero being the lowest quality and ten being the highest quality) I would give the Story & Clark brand a score of about four.

If you follow the advice in this article you can get a good idea of the value of your piano. However, if you are looking for a professional opinion (for insurance records etc.) you will have to have a professional technician look at the piano. I do appraise pianos, but try to avoid it as much as possible. I am not the best person for such work. Probably the best person in Kansas City for piano appraisals is Greg Hulme who lives in Greenwood, MO (just south of Blue Springs). His phone number is in the phone book if you would like to give him a call.

I have a Kawaii small studio, Oak Finish, made in 1997 and purchased in 1998. I purchased it through Warrensburg (CMSU). It was loaned to them for a year/semester and then sold. I would like to know how much it is worth.

While one can always claim personal preference as a justification for either the Hamburg or New York Steinway D as the better piano, having just played a superb Hamburg instrument at our flagship Public Radio station here in Boston, that piano was simply beyond compare, in terms of its senstivity to touch, tonal balance, and superlative bass register. I have owned a New York D, and at least on this limited basis of comparison, it's "no contest" for me. A truly remarkable musical experience, which one day, I hope to own myself.

My wife and I purchased a 125 year old Steinway, which, though beautiful, was not playable. It had not been tuned in years and sounded awful. Chuck, however, was undeterred and went straight to work, patiently adjusting the tuning pins. He then changed several broken strings (not an easy task) and tuned the piano so that it sounds great. I want to express my sincere appreciation for his work. It is very clear that he knows what he is doing and that he truly loves his work. Thanks again.

Thanks for an informative website that finally answered some questions for me. My piano is dirty and had some mold on it as well as on the keys. It needs work on the action. I am having difficulty getting good answers from anyone. What should I use to clean it? and the keys? It was previously in Florida and has been shipped to me in Colorado. I've got humidifiers going in the room, but I noticed some cracks recently in the bench. I am worried about it!!!! It is a 1927 steinway Is it necessarily bad to have the action removed form the paino and replaced elsewhere and then reinstalled in the piano? I just had it shipped to me and don't want to shipthe entire piano across the country again... .

I wanted to tell you that your Web site is very well designed. It is easy to find all of the pertinent information such as hours available, cost of tuning, testimonials, and it is especially easy to schedule an appointment. Thanks for making it so easy!

Chuck has done a great job keeping our aging pianos in the best possible shape. His sensitivity to tone and touch make it a pleasure to sit at the piano following his work. He always keeps you well informed on the status of your instrument and includes prevention as part of his service. It's nice when your technician leaves the piano sounding better each time he services it!

The only Schimmel pianos I have worked on have all been grand pianos. My opinion of the Schimmel brand is that they are good pianos, at least the ones I have serviced. I would have to see the piano before I could recommend it however.
